“The First Day…”
“The first day at a children's camp”
Task
Create an interactive website to help children and parents cope with anxiety about the first day at camp. Rather than a conventional information page, the project needed to show what a child's day is really like, what emotions they might experience, and how their feelings gradually change.
Solution
I developed an interactive long-form story that follows a day from a child's perspective, from getting ready in the morning and the first gathering to afternoon activities, the campfire, and the first night away from their parents. Scrolling becomes part of the narrative: as users move through the page, the time of day, atmosphere, and protagonist's thoughts change, taking them through the adjustment process.
Result
The result was an emotional, immersive experience that lets children become familiar with camp life in advance and helps parents understand what their child may experience during the first few days. Instead of presenting information conventionally, the site tells a story, helps reduce anxiety, and shows how fear of the unknown can gradually turn into curiosity, new friendships, and independence.
